My Daughter Will Not…
Covered in veil, she walked five
Kilometres to fetch water,
And sat there thinking about the
Future of her daughter,
Deprived of education at the age of fifteen,
Her dreams shattered of being a queen,
Nothing ever enticed her more than books,
But her mother made her a wonderful cook,
Married at the age of 19,
At 20 she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl,
But thinking of her future made her dismal,
But she refused to surrender,
The battle will be tough, the battle will be long,
But she knew she was strong,
She promised herself to teach her little angel
The art of oratory and the launguage of the sun
Fought with the world to make her
Daughter write and learn,
Whenever she looked at her,
Her daughter’s eyes reflected her own dreams.
She smiled and said what if she can’t be a queen, she can raise one.
