Bhilai. “You will find scores of beautiful and pretty girls in beauty contests who fail to achieve. Beauty pageants are not about mere beauty at all. It is not about your skin colour, your height or weight. It considers your overall grooming and the way you carry yourself, interact and react to situations”, said Vanya Mishra, Femina Miss India World-2012. Vanya was here to attend the 14th foundation day ceremony of INIFD Bhilai. She is a part of all INIFD activities across the country. INIFD works hands in glove with Femina and partners its events.
When asked about fairness creams, Vanya said, “I never used one and do not need it. But I have seen girls using one cream after another to get fairer. I think, most of it is hype. May be it is the stigma attached to being dark and the concept of ‘Fair is Beautiful’ works silently in their head”, she said.
“Proper diet, lots of water, learning to raise self confidence and grabbing enough sleep is the key to look young, vibrant and beautiful. In our job we keep up till late at night, sometimes 3 am. So it is not before 10 am that we rise from the bed. This, coupled with a power nap during the day, keeps us fresh and beaming through our work schedule,” Vanya said.
“I wanted to be crowned some day since my childhood but I got my chance when I was in the third year of my BE. Education is important, not only to get you on your feet, but also grooms you,” she said.
Reacting of the INIFD theme of saving the girl child Vanya said, “I grew up in a family where such things were unheard. There are families mostly in the north and north west who prefer a boy over girl. But things are changing fast. The current trend is not only against female foeticide but treating the girl child at par with the boys,” she said. “As a women, I would advocate more impetus on the girl child as she is more considerate towards the needs of her families,” she added.

14th Foundation Day Celebrations
“INIFD Bhilai is celebrating its 14th foundation day. We have successfully churned out more than a dozen designers every year. We also offer placements. Designers from this institute have been placed with the leading fashion brands. But most of them wish to work independently opening up studios and boutiques. Many of our students have grown up to be successful entrepreneurs,” said Vikram Khandelwal, Director, INIFD Bhilai.
