Neuro Angiography at Apollo BSR

Aug 23, 2016

lovlesh-rathoreBhilai. Neuro Angiography of a 21 year old female patient was done successfully at Apoll BSR Hospital. Open surgery in such cases are risky and generally have side effects hampering the movements of the patient post treatment. The girl had the first spasms of pain on 16th July. She complained of severe pain and fainted. The pain and fits repeated in short intervals. She was brought to the Apoll BSR hospital.
A CT Scan of the patient revealed an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in the parietal lobe. The parietal lobe carries out some very specific functions. As a part of the cortex, it has a lot of responsibilities and has to be able to process sensory information within seconds. The parietal lobe is where information such as taste, temperature and touch are integrated, or processed.
Dr Lovelesh Rathore, Neuro surgeon at Apollo BSR opted for emblization of the AVM through neuro angiography as open surgeries generally raise complications. This procedure involves the injection of glue or other non-reactive liquid adhesive material into the AVM in order to block it off. Lipidiol and endocryl glue was used in this case.
Post procedure the girl is doing fine and has not reported any weakness of limbs, a common side effect of open surgeries.
